Kurupt FM becomes the latest signing for XL Recordings.
The independent imprint has officially bagged Kurupt FM in what Music Week describes as ‘a successful piece of strategic talent acquisiton.’ Home to Radiohead, Nines, Adele and a past home for Dizzee Rascal, the label has a strong history of supporting British innovation in music. First broadcast by the BBC in 2014, TV mockumentary, ‘People Just Do Nothing’, propelled Kurupt FM to a nationwide audience. A flurry of festival sets, club nights, merch, and radio takeovers later and Kurupt FM have established their brand as one of the best known when it comes to UKG.
With new material rumoured to be on the way amidst grumblings of the resurrection of UK Funky in other circles, these short lived early millennium underground genres could be poised for a longer spell in the sun.
