There are many unlikely things that could happen and we may not necessarily understand them, but sometimes the unexpected can make the exception. This new cut from Skepta and RiFF RaFF is literally one of those rare occasions where you just need to go with the flow.
‘Back From The Dead’ is one of those stranger things, a combination of style concocted as a featured track on a Halloween themed album from DJ Afterthought x RiFF RAFF’s appropriately titled – ‘Balloween’. On the collaboration RiFF RAFF returns to form on a laid back verse, while Skepta spits a haunting one imagining his own funeral in future past, “My funeral was amazing, it was beautiful / Doves flying, brothers blazing in the cubicles /Fakes crying.” Mildly singalong and ironically grim but without a reaper, there’s something almost angelically welcoming about ‘Back From The Dead’.
But for anyone who’s been thinking this collaboration is some a flash in the pan, it’s more a resurrection of spirits, as one of our fav photographer, Ashley Verse pointed out;
People are forgetting Skepta sampled Riff Raff in 2012 to make Castles… Haven't read one article that's built that connection

The upcoming ‘Balloween’ mixtape will feature guests appearances alongside Skepta, from Quavo, Calvin Harris, Lil B, Yung Lean and production from Sonny Digital, Diplo and Calvin Harris. Put away those scary thoughts of Riff Raff heading off to tinker with ‘Truck Stuff and Butterscotch Butts’ on a country album and relish the suspense ahead when ‘Balloween’ arrives on October 25th.
