It’s about to go off! Red Bull Music Academy announced the competing crews for Red Bull Culture Clash 2016, happening at London’s O2 on 17th June.
It’s the 5th clash, with the latest battle about to go HAM, with Eskimo Dance, Mixpak, UKG All Stars and Wiz Khalifa & Taylor Gang going head-to-head for clash supremacy. Annie Mac will be returning to host duties on the night.
First up are challengers, Eskimo Dance, originally founded by the Godfather of Grime, Wiley. Eskimo Dance is one of the most pivotal movements in UK Grime history, with the who’s who of grime names hitting the stages at their legendary raves up and down the country. UK Grime collective Boy Better Know previously won Culture Clash in 2012, Eskimo Dance affiliates are no strangers to the Culture Clash stage.
Brooklyn based challengers Mixpak will be heading to British shores with their sought-after producer Dre Skull. The collective is home to some of Jamaica’s biggest stars with a slew of releases to their name from Popcaan, Vybz Kartel, Beenie Man and Spice. Don’t underestimate these contenders, they know the history of sound clash culture from the Jamaican homelands.
Garage will have it’s moment, when UKG All Stars bring out the two step classics to the Culture Clash mix. A new collective made up of a team of players, names are yet to be announced but be ready for a clash of the British underground like no other.
Repping the U.S, will be Wiz Khalifa & Taylor Gang crew who are promising to arrive locked and loaded to take on the challengers in pursuit of a first US Culture Clash victory.
Fought over four rounds, each Sound System will be pushing to bring the biggest tunes, freshest dubs and best special guests to win over the Culture Clash crowd.
