When Nines released his new UK mixtape ‘One Foot In’ earlier this week alongside dropping a new video for the lead track ‘Don’t Blame Me’ – everything just lit up!
The new mixtape has had the kind of reception you only get when you’ve put in the work that Nines has over the previous tapes ‘Church Road To Hollywood’, ‘Gone Till November’ and ‘Loyal To The Soil’. The anticipation for ”One Foot In’ has been huge and the pick up immediate – when it debuted straight in at No.1 on DJ Semtex’s Friday Night Mixtape Top 5 on 1Xtra Semtex said “when it comes to mixtapes we listen to everybody and everything – but there’s one mixtape right now that’s got everything“.
The lead track ‘Can’t Blame Me’ featuring Haile also got picked up last weekend on the OVO Sound Radio show on Beats 1 and in one week the video has clocked over 700,000 plays on YouTube and we expect this to get a lot bigger.
This is just the first part of a two-part mixtape series with the North West London-native sharing his story, his strife, his dreams and his life ‘So much fiends on a line, had to phone a helper, had the alleyway looking like a homeless shelter’ – joining him on features and production are Show N Prove, Tigga Da Author, Fatz, Skrapz, Haile.
Talking to SBTV about his latest project, Nines revealed the mixtape will be supported by an online drama series, “It’s the story of my hood, the dilemmas of dealing with your immediate circumstance which is often filled with nothing but negativity but the desires of having a better life and doing what you can to make that happen. ‘One Foot In’ kicks this off by dealing with the complexities of our situation; the battle between dreams and pride. It will be accompanied by an eight part drama which I’m exec producing… This is the first two-part UK mixtape of its kind, supported by an online drama series. It’s about showing the people what it’s really like where I live.“
