Few artists can inspire music journalists to unleash such a cacophony of phrases dug out of their thick thesauruses, than Moses Sumney. But don’t let words distract you, to feel Aromanticism, you need to go straight to the source of Aromanticism – Sumney is the lonely heart at the centre of this elusive thing we call love.
I have a thing these days for the kind of visual narratives that leave you going ‘WTF’ at the end, and if you’re feeling like you need a dose of creative inspiration, take 7-minutes out to watch ‘Quarrel’. A directorial debut short-film by Sumney alongside longtime video collaborator Allie Avital, its a sobering surreal narrative that brings life and death to ‘Quarrel’ in equal measure. Featuring the haunting work of acclaimed Belgian artist, Berlinde De Bruyckere, ‘No Life Lost II 2015’, the connection between the music and art become ever more apparent.
Fresh of his appearance at Coachella, Moses Sumney has also announced a new European live tour including a performance at Field Day and a headline show at the Royal Festival Hall on September 21 in London.
