Possibly one of the most low key hardest working men in the music scene right now, Loyle Carner just dropped a new single ‘Stars & Shards’, and off the back of not one but two sold out UK tours, just announced a fresh run of dates including London’s Koko.
Carner’s music connects and for good reason, firmly original but rooted in the sounds of boom-bap hip-hop and jazz, he’s a young and masterful storyteller from South London. Assured in his tone and direct with his prose, Carner just seems to find the words to unearth the beauty in the basics of everyday life hitting at the core of growing up in Britain. Carner isn’t preachy though, he’s got the flow to tell as story about someone he used to know, on ‘Stars & Shards’. Taking us through the story of Sonny, it’s smooth as its stark literally – raw dark indeed!
In the space of a year, Loyle’s released a stream of tracks to critical acclaim including his debut ‘A Little Late’ EP and the last single ‘Aint Nothing Changed’. 2016 began with him on the long list for BBC Music Sound and collaborations on tracks with Kiko Bun, Cadenza, Tom Misch and Kate Tempest. Also announcing a charity project with GOMA Collective, together with Loyle they’re setting up a cookery school for 14-16 year old children living with ADHD.
