She might be making her man a memory on her first single ‘She Don’t’ with Ty Dolla $ign but Ella Mai is making a point to become memorable with her breakout on DJ Mustard’s 10Summers label.
Debuting the video (above) for her first single ‘She Don’t’ together with the ‘Time’ EP, take a first look at Ella Mai, she’s got her own take on ‘confessions’, and she’s going from that committed ride or die chick on ‘Switch Sider’ to the one who’s not about to be anyones sidechick on ‘Don’t Want You’.
At 21 yrs, Ella’s already got a hook on how relationships go down and as a relatively unknown British singer, with ‘Mustard on da beat’, she’s already got more than most on her side. The Mitcham, South London singer, perfectly epitomises the newgen cross channel cultivators of music, who aren’t drawn back by their boundaries but know just how far to cross borders to take their sound from London to L.A.
Ella Mai’s debut EP ‘TIME’ is the first moment we’ll get her on our minds, with tracks like ‘Old Dog, New Bitch’, better to keep her front of mind cos Mai is about making the right impressions with no do-overs. Mai has got time on her side and Mustard on the beat – it’s might just go a thousand times over expectations.
