Samm Henshaw Will Ease Your Soul

The British soul invasion has enraptured the world with it’s unstoppable slew of’soul-pop‘ artists and they don’t intend to let up the takeover anytime soon. Samm Henshaw is pure soul – all purity with none of the pop – and we like it just like that.

This week, up and coming British singer/songwriter Samm Henshaw will release his debut EP ‘The Sound Experiment’, and he’s got everything needed to raise the ceiling on the British Soul scene. Armed with his raw talent and relentless grind on the live circuit, it may still be early days for Samm Henshaw but he’s on the road to acclaim.

This is the EP you listen to when you first discover that amazing new artist, a rich collection of soulful tracks, stripped back to feel effortless but deep enough to get under your skin. There are no standouts, because every track flows back to back into the next leaving you wanting more. ‘Only Wanna Be With You’, ‘Redemption’ and ‘Better’, channel an enormous confidence and range not only in pitch but in the solitary desperation of Samm’s lyrics “I don’t need no one, no affiliation, I don’t need no boost for my reputation, But all I need is you.”

Samm Henshaw’s respect for the craft of songwriting belies his 21 years and will make ‘The Sound Experiment’ a rich introduction to his world. Citing D’Angelo as a musical influence, there are more elements of the moody quality of ‘Voodoo’ and the spirits of the Gospel greats.

Live gig’s all seem to come in Samm’s stride, after selling out London shows over the summer at The Courtyard Theatre and The Lexington, he’s currently on the road with James Bay ahead of his first headline U.K tour.

Samm Henshaw U.K Tour will kick off with the London show at the new Community festival.

3 November – London, Cargo at Community Festival
4 November – Bristol, Start the Bus
6 November – Birmingham, Temple
7 November – Manchester, Deaf Institute
