After releasing their collaborative album ‘Twenty88’, Jhene Aiko and Big Sean share a short film, ‘Out Of Love’ – depicting a powerful duo and the complexities of their relationship.
Directed by Lawrence Lamont, ‘Out Of Love’ sees Big Sean and Jhene as these futuristic adult film stars. It starts with them attending an awards ceremony (called the XXX) where the pair win awards, both individually and collectively, and jealousy and flirting is rife! To the outside world, the pair look picture perfect, they’re powerful, beautiful and appear a strong couple, but as the storyline progresses you see the complexities of their relationship both on and off camera; the pair discuss infidelity, betrayal and falling in and out of love.
The visual is the perfect accompaniment to the dysfunctional, yet raw love that is created sonically on the album. Visually, it’s a futuristic aesthetic complete with a slight 70’s influence which is clear with Jhene’s burnt orange wig she rocks oh-so well throughout the video.
‘Out Of Love’ presents us with the first visual out-take from the album with a soundtrack from Twenty88, featuring clips of ‘Déjà vu’, ‘Selfish’, and ‘Talk Show’. Previously the video was only available via TIDAL, but now it’s on VEVO, available to the masses. So go check it out above.
