2017 MOBO Award Nominations Announced

YouTube Space London played host to the 2017 MOBO Award Nomination Announcements.

A wealth of UK talent will be hoping to gain recognition for their artistry across every category from Hip-Hop to Gospel at November’s award ceremony. The 2017 winners will be decided by public vote and industry panels as MOBO continues to champion home grown talent.

Stormzy leads the pack at this year’s MOBO’s with five nominations including Best Male, Best Grime Act, Best Album (for Gang Signs & Prayer) Best Song and Best Video (for ‘Big For Your Boots’). His number one debut album was the first Grime album to reach number one according to the officalcharts.com and he also celebrates the biggest independent album of the year so far with over 220,000 sales.

J Hus lands four nominations, including Best Male, Best Album (for ‘Common Sense’) and Best Song (for ‘Did You See’)

Jorja Smith is nominated for Best Female, Best R’n’B / Soul Act and Best Newcomer while Stefflon Don is nominated for Best Female, Best Hip-Hop Act and Best Newcomer.

Sampha gets two nominations for Best Male, Best Album, and Best R’n’B / Soul Act.
